How two schools welcome their new admits.

Okay.

Someone told me to update this blog, so here I go.

I didn't have anything to write about, but this person (who goes to UCSC) asked me, 'Cal day?'

I responded, 'yup, that's tomorrow!'

Then this person replied in a sightly disappointed manner, 'i wonder if we have any like... open house kinda days... does 420 count?"

So GG, yet sort of true to a certain degree.

When I visited UCSC during winter break, the first two streets that greeted me were 'High' and 'Highland.' Fits the area nicely, right? Then I got lost navigating the roads for about 10 minutes and found the campus miraculously. I must have breathed in some of that bad stuff.

Here is an official email regarding 420 events that was forwarded to me:

Re: Reminder of housing contract restriction on guests during the period of Monday, April 19, 2010 - Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Dear UCSC Residential Student,

To minimize the impact of "4-20" on our campus, I write to provide you with a courtesy reminder of a clause in your housing contract that restricts you from hosting any overnight guests in your residence from Monday, April 19 through Wednesday, April 21.

The limitation on overnight guests is due to the anticipated large numbers of non-UCSC affiliates that will be arriving on campus through the weekend as potential participants in this non-University sanctioned event. As Vice Chancellor McGinty described in her message to all students, the campus is putting a number of measures in place to ensure safety for all members of the campus community and reduce disruptions to University business. Throughout this period, a heightened level of residential staff, including community safety officers, will be monitoring for violations of the guest policy and other related issues.

If you have questions or concerns, please talk to the residential services staff in your community. This early reminder is intended to help you plan accordingly, and I encourage you to make good choices on April 20-go to class and work and participate in student activities and programming.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Haha.. wow.. I'm sorry for being so surprised, but I just find this funny.

Update (a few minutes later): some people smell weed in my hallway.... what a coincidence...
